I think the economy will recovery, the question will be how strong the recovery will be, because if the growth of the economy is 1-2% then it will take a long time to get the unemployment rate into an acceptable area, additionally an economy growing at 1-2% and inflation at 1-2% means the economy is basically in a stand still.
Of course it will, it always does but it will take a good couple of years to get back to where it was.
How is that an accurate number ? What do they do count applications ? Everyone looking for a job is not unemployed. Everyone getting unemployment benefits is.
Lets not forget about all the seasonal help that goes on unemployment as "part of their income"... Or the people that abuse the shit out of it. Unemployment is yet another business subsidized tax that should be eliminated. Lost your job? Get another one. Most of the people I know on unemployment have not lost their job. They are just laid off for a few months out of the year. Those that are, are not laid off because of the "economy" they are laid off because they are in a profession that is "Seasonal". When you can make over $600/wk tax free on unemployment in Illinois, why the hell would you ever look for a job? This is another bungled crap ass moonbat social program that does nothing to help those in real need. All it does is cost us, the small business money paying into unemployment. I've got some contractor friends that have taken losses on jobs just to keep their guys working because what they would pay into unemployment is more than what they are losing paying them to lose money. Look who I'm talking to... Like he's even got a clue?
Damn, they get $600 ! It's only $400 in NV and lower in other states. But as one who has had to file years ago to stay afloat...it kept me from defaulting on other bills, which would be a cascading effect to other businesses, and got me back on my feet. It comes out of most peoples check anyway. As long as I worked for other people since I was 16...I only used it once. I paid more than my fair share, I didn't feel bad about taking it at all. You can't double dip with unemployment. If you get a job and continue to file, they will press charges on your for fraud, besides it only lasts for so long. Everyone is not as fortunate as we are to be able to support ourselves online, and if people who have been paying into it need to get some back. I don't see the problem. Especially right now. Everyone is not in an area where they can just "get another job" the same week. Some communities have been depleted..especially small towns that had a main employer that shut down. If the town was supported by a major manufacturer, where are the supposed to just "get another job"? Other businesses in the area that depended on business from people that had jobs, are going to hurt as well. It's a big country. Every area doesn't have the options that I do in Las Vegas, or other large cities where you can at least flip a burger or wait tables for an honest buck. Contractors do get the short end of the stick since work is mostly seasonal, but skilled labor is on the higher end f the work force, so when they are working, they do pay for it and they only get back a portion of their regular income, not the whole thing. By the way. That was pretty low. I can be argumentative and enjoy a vigorous discussion, but I don't think I've ever been intentionally rude of hurtful. That's just low
They follow like 600,000 households nation wide and they call them every month to see if they are still employed, or if not if they are looking for a job, then out of that sample of 600,000 households they get a national average. Also unemployment benefits run out after a certain number of weeks, you can still be unemployed and not collect benefits.
Not necessary. It's O.K., people of lesser intelligence often fall back on insults to cover up the frustration they feel of not being able to express themselves in an educated manner, or effectively argue their point. I believe that history will show us this when studying school aged children who revert to the phrase "Yo Momma !" when losing a battle of wits
The max unemployment pay rate for Illinois is $385 http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SavingandDebt/LearnToBudget/how-much-jobless-pay-would-you-get.aspx
If you believe in a business cycle then yes the economy can recover just at what cost and what benchmark you set as "recovery".
If you "believe"? I don't think this is a time to sit around and believe. I'ts best to analyze what you can and get your facts straight, in order to make informed decisions. Everything else is wishful thinking.
