Can the adwords conversion tracker even work if links are cloaked?

How exactly does the adwords conversion tracker work? I didn't find any info on their site how it works, it just says you put the pixel on the thank you page.

Right now, if a person clicks a link. It will show: example.com/outgoinglink/url (my domain being example.com)

clicks it and it goes to the merchant page, does the conversion tracker need to see the uncloaked link?

MY AM is setting up the pixels on the offer's page right now, but I'm worrying if it will work if I use cloaked links.

Does Adwords send an custom string to each of my destination links and this has to be sent to the merchant sites? How else would this work?

Put your conversion tracking code on your link's redirect page. ^_^_

not sure how I can do it through Shorty, I'd have to program my own cloaking system.

So conversion tracker passes strings in the url to track the conversions?

    Then it'd just track redirects...

Anyway, it will still work with redirects. All it does is set a cookie that the pixel at the end calls. It doesn't care about the path in the middle.
