    If I got a subdomain and free host from a host-for-posts forum, can I appear in the second place in google for a keyword that has around 24000 searches each month with very good SEO? Can I also get a high PageRank? :)

    And what about .blogspot sites? :) or .typepad ? They all rank very well.

    I am not sure, but think it also depends on the weight of the main domain. But if you promote right, you'll achieve good results with sub domain - that's for sure,

    I think if you got potential and got good skill you should not use free hosting and free sub domain, spend some money and get good host and good domain.

    I think subdomains are counted as different websites, so you should be able to get a good rank.

    Every google subdomain has a very high PR.
    Not to mention other examples.

    if you are asking about free hosts, i think it is possible...I run a blog at my site in a sub domain, but it has a rank...nuthing gr8 though...it has a rank! but i would definitely suggest that you go with a domain if you want proper long term results...since free hosts are not very dependable for all you know.
