It's just that yesterday I had 16 clicks total across several sites; today so far it says over 130, almost 100 from one site alone. I was wondering if some spider was doing something weird. (Feedburner or Technorati or something). Google Analytics seems to indicate that not that many people came to my sites.
If spiders go crazy on CJ links (and CJ counts them, not sure if it's an automated or manual "discounting" of spider clicks), CJ may revise the click stats. I've only seen that (from the advertiser's side) when spiders somehow drove a few thousand "clicks" for one publisher in one day.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with 301 redirects. Instead of linking directly to my advertiser (eBay) I made a redirect page but I haven't excluded it in robots.txt yet. The total clicks for that site yesterday was 167, more than usual, but if it was spiders wouldn't it be more? I link to thousands of products. Oh well maybe they were real human clicks Have to wait a few days and see if I become a millionaire, or at least a hundredaire.
No, it's impossible to get banned from a spider visiting your link. CJ's system filters out some clicks by spiders automatically, but not all.
I'm sure CJ is aware that spiders can trigger clicks and therefore, you shouldn't get banned or have issues of that sort. They'd be terminating a lot of accounts if that were the case!!
