I have seen a number of sites do this before and am not sure of the TOS of Google Adsense. It would be worth reading over them to get the official answer. Nice looking site BTW!

I also see ton's of sites using that method. I'd get rid of that double image though.

Put a heavy border between the images and the google ads.
Google says images are okay, if there is a definable border between the images and the adsense ads.

Iowa is right. According to Google this is all that has to be done so that visitors do not think the images are associated with the ads they are serving. If you do some searching on here you can find many threads that have covered this subject. If you follow this rule of theirs you will have no issues with them.

I would shoot an email to the adsense team. On the first version of my homepage, I used a similar technique. I asked them to make sure it was in compliance, and it was. In any event, you will not be penialized for asking, and the correspondance serves as evidence in the event of a dispute later on :)
