    Hey,
I'm not interested in this myself but I want to show someone that PR can be manipulated.

How many backlinks are needed from PRx sites to get PRx?

    For example say 1 PR8 link would get a PR3-4, 10 PR6 links would get a PR5-6.

I know I saw this somewhere but can't remember where.

    Thanks :)

Quality Number of links from the relevant theme website is what is advisable just getting nay random link for the sack of SEO will not help to achive the goal.

Focus on quality on on quantity

I was looking for this as well. As you say it is a bit dated and it does make lots of assumptions, but I agree it does the job. Many thanks

obiztak, that's exactly what I'm trying to say with the help of this, showing that PR is worthless really and can be bought so easily.

The basic PR formula is as follows:

    PR(a)= 0.85 * PR(b)/C(b)

    Where PR(a) is your PR
PR(b) is the PR of the site that links to you and C(b) is the number of outgoing links on the page linking to you.

So a link on a PR5 page with 5 outgoing links will pass 0.85 PR to your site.

This is a very basic approximation however.
