Hi, I will keep this brief. I am looking for representation in a lawsuit stemming from a JV deal gone bad, and involving public slander of the name of one party in the duo, and several completely erroneous accusations of fraud resulting in loss of business revenue for the accused upwards of $500,000. I have been having trouble finding lawyers who specialize in Internet Business law (not something I've personally had to deal with before), and would love to schedule a consultation with someone. I would really appreciate any recommendations on whom to connect with regarding this issue. Much thanks in advance.
You should find a local attorney, or if you have a contract that specifies where disputes will be litigated, one that practices where the lawsuit will be filed. Laws vary by state, and if a suit goes to trial, you will need an attorney that can practice in that state, and the closer you are to the court, the more you'll save on attorney fees in travel time. You'll spend tens of thousands of dollars to go to trial, and complicated cases with appeals can easily run into six figures. If you do not have an agreement that has a prevailing party clause for attorney fees, this is something that will likely factor into your decision to spend such a sums of money in legal fees. It will be virtually impossible to find a good attorney who will take a case like this on contingency, so you need make sure you are prepared to spend the money, and also consider the chances of collecting from the other party even if you win.
Contact your local State Attorney, he'll have a list of all lawyers that operate under his jurisdiction and will be able to guide you to the right lawyer to help with your problem.
