Can someone explain me StumbleUpon.com scheme?

Hello, could someone please explain me kindly the process and scheme by what StumbleUpon.com is working? I try to promote my site in this way( aka stumbling) , so yesterday i was on 1 place by tag web proxy. Then i changed tags a bit, and on next day (today) im nowhere in the list of web proxy, though i have 13 people who liked my site, and site on second place got only 2... Could anyone explain by what scheme you get better place by specific tag on StumbleUpon.com?

there are many things out there..

 

stumbleupon just works by stumbling and saying you like the site, there are no real leader boards once another proxy is stumbled it is added to the list.

 

Stumble upon is based on your interest and what the people on your friends list send you. If you search for a certain topic, you will get a random selection of those types of sites. The more popular a site is and the more thumbs up it gets, the more it will show in the random selections.

 

so, you say it is pure random selection? there must be some algo
