First of all, don't be fooled by all those ads/people who claim to be making tons of money. It happens, yes, but not as frequently as some would have us believe. Second, it takes work. And more work. Successful marketers, literally, put in full days of work at their computers. They own loads of domain names and they are constantly writing articles, etc....in other words, finding ways to promote themselves. And it takes time. Sure, you can use a blog. That's what I use. I have several. And considering the amount of time I spend promoting, they provide me with a few $$. But it takes time. Give your site(s) 6-12 months to really start producing income for you
pick your niche and go for it! Sure the money is out there to made but you have to be prepared to go hell for leather and give something to people that they want. Once you have that, make it scaleable...wash, rinse and repeat. I am into Poker affiliation and I tell you it's HUGE with serious money to be made - 6 figure sums a month are not uncommon but you have to work really hard and really only a network of sites around a niche is going to pull this off for you. If you just randomly link to affiliate programs you are likely to not do very well. What you need is targeted traffic. You need a targeted site about a particular subject and then you recommend a particular product. For example you could create a site about "how to lose weight fast" and then recommend and link to my diet product and make $50 for each sale Of course then the keys are making a good landing page that convinces the customer and just as importantly (or even more important really) getting people to that page. That's where you can work with either SEO or PPC... If you are serious about it, you have a lot of study ahead of you.
I am interested to learn how to make money with affiliates too, recently I tried to promote my affiliate link with YouTube videos. Started only yesterday so maybe in a month's time I can say how it went.
