I am looking to see how you guys really make money with adsense. I was considering starting a blog type of thing, and writing articles and submiting them to digg and other sites to get traffic, and eventually revenue, should I do this or what?
Digg may get you traffic but for the most part it does not convert to revenue. Digg users usally are not ad clickers.
Companies want to advertise their stuff. They put it on Adsense. You put Adsense on your site. You get paid by the company. Adsense takes a share of the money you make from the ads. Let's say your blog would be about.... cars. Adsense is smart enough to realize that and put ads about cars. To answer your question of "Should I do this or what?" I think you should do a bit more research before you dive in. In my personal experience, this stuff is 95% learning and 5% earning. Good luck. You can find tons of good info on DP. =)
Thanks, I have been reading through the forums for about a week, and have reviewed the AdSense website. I still have alot to learn. Would it be benefical to make a site, and practive with adsense to see how it works and everything? How do you get the traffic?
Depends on what you're doing. But IMO, the best traffic would be from search engines. Meaning you should check out the SEO,keywords and link building part of this enormous forum too =)
I know a little SEO and my aunt does it for a living, so I can get on that. I think I will start a tech blog sort of thing, like engadget, but orignal articles and stuff.
If an ad is shown on your website and someone other than yourself has clicked the ad then Google charges the advertiser and gives you a proportion of the revenue that they get. You actually get paid by google and not the advertiser (It doesn't have to be a company). If you want to make some money from a website then why not consider affiliate marketing as well? I find this far more profitable.
Simply stated, Google AdSense enables website operators to place some code on their site that connects to Google’s ad server content database and pulls keyword-relevant advertising onto the web pages. The webmaster gets paid a percentage of the fee that Google receives from the advertiser every time a visitor clicks on an ad. There is no charge for the webmaster to participate in AdSense. All costs are covered by the advertiser who participates in the AdSense sister program called AdWords. If you need a complete reference to Google Adsense here is the url : mumbaikar.org/adsense
"submiting them to digg and other sites to get traffic, and eventually revenue, should I do this or what?" Traffic from sites like digg, will not help you earn money. Try to get traffic from search engines.
I agree that SE traffic is the best all-around because once you start getting it, you can get a flood of it. The best converting traffic, IMO is traffic from articles. The people have proven that not only are they interested enough to have read through your article, they have proven they are active clickers just by going through your resource box link to get to your site.
Thanks Guys. I was thinking of doing a blog on blogger, can I still make money this way, or would I be better off buying a domain? Would a blogger blog be good to practice with? I made this, it is not against the TOS right? It's not drug related, tobacco pipes are legal. http:// smokersreview. blogspot.com/ What do you guys think? Where would be a good spot for Adsense ads?
One leader board below the header and large rectangle ads between the posts has better results. Also make the ads blend with content of site.
I would leave this niche alone for adsense. Looking at the keywords, there aren't ANY ads for bongs, water pipes, anything but tobacco. If you write your page to attract tobacco product ads, you'll get sherlock holmes type pipes and people who are interested in bongs won't click those ads. I'd either dump the niche, or look for sites that sell bongs and see if you can find an affiliate program to promote. You can make money with a blogger blog, but I'd spring for the domain and hosting to have the thing in your control. Wouldn't it suck for you to put in months of work and make the site a killer money-maker, only to have google shut it down the next time they change the blogger TOS?
True. I was planning on getting a domain when I get paid, but I wanted to wait and see what was up. I am an affiliate with EveryoneDoesIt.co.uk and GotVape.com, I will put their ads up on my site in hopes for revenue too. I am not going to use the word tobacco really, only glass and water pipe if I can.
