New laptop becuase my old one fried and I can't get MS Word on it (don't have the cd still - about $1k in software lost because I'm dumb) but long story short is I have some of my articles I wrote recovered from the hard drive (adapter) but now I can't open (.docx and no MS Word).

I need someone with MS Word to email them a .docx file and let me know if it opens and shows the content or not.

Can someone do this quick favour for me?

    Thanks

I'll just be sending one but would prefer to send to someone that has been here a bit because the buyer is pending purchase and I don't want any of them to get put in the wrong hands.

Nothing personal but you havn't really made any helpful posts on here (kind of spammy) but it's not like the person has to fill out an application to be helpful - they just have to be a member here, like for at least a month.

With Google Docs, you can open the MS word files without installation . Have a try .

...and now the person is banned.

Thanks, I'll PM you now. I just got a free conversion from .docx to .pdf on a few of them to test it out and it worked so I am 99.9% sure that it will work - my only worry is because it is "shortcut" and not the main file.

    Thanks :)
