It's one of those networking things, Google's version of it. A friend invites you to join, then you invite your friends... the network is then created as friends, friends of friends, friends of friends of friends, and so on. Hence, my comment -- it doesn't make sense given the model to send invitations to people you don't know -- it's not like a GMail invitation... Additionally on Orkut, you can subscribe to "communities" of people with similar interests, sort of like IRC channels or mini-forums -- some of these seem to be quite active, others not -- you can send messages out to whole communities if you wish, like a mailing list. I really don't use the thing much, actually...
Actually, it turns out they read my GMail and Orkut messages first while the coffee is brewing -- THEN they go to their regular email inboxes (well, after they scan your email, of course... that goes without saying)
Well Minstrel, I have found great use for my Gmail accounts, I forward all of the spam with attachments from my Yahoo accounts to my Gmail accounts, that way viruses are released in the system. I am just now looking for a piece of software to automate the process It is a dummies way of hacking, makes me feel like part of the hacker community with no knowledge of coding.
Hey... whatever makes you happy. I'm in favor of anything that keeps the kids off the streets and down in the basement drinking beer where they should be...
Yes, gota keep us trouble makers busy Minstrel, Google will figure out how to stop the viruses one day.
Please, somebody can give an invitation to me for the ORKUT? it would like to make Mars of this community. Debtor Josiel
You can buy an Orkut invitation on ebay, apparently. This guy is selling hundreds of them. Check out his feedback comments. Can a person send invites to unlimited people? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7105547024&category=4291
No wonder the Orkut server is slow with idiots like this auctioning. The idea is that you invite your friends or family to join up NOT to sell invites via auctions.
Orkut is one of those silly social networking things. The real question is why does anyone care? I joined to see what it was like when it was new... I think I signed on maybe 3 or 4 times max - haven't been back in like a year or two, if memory serves.
