Hey everyone im trying to hide my affiliate id that gets shown in the address bar whenever a visitor clicks the affiliate link on my website and gets brough to a sales page, please help I cant find anything to sort this out all people are telling me is to use tinyurl but that still puts my affiliate id in the address bar when someone clicks through using the tinyurl.
Do you mean this cant be done??? I am sure that I have seen it done somewhere before, Im currently running a php script on my website that cloaks my affiliate id and hides it in the bottom status bar in the browser but when someone clicks it my clickbank id shows in the top address bar.
Thats about the best you can do, cloaking is against clickbank's Tos even though a lot of people do it
cloaking your aff code is overrated. i wouldnt really worry about it, unless u think it affects your adwords qs. p
some merchants do immediate redirect to remove affiliate id from the address bar. IMHO everyone should be doing it because it looks nicer but not everyone does do it
You have to do it within an iframe tag, but it's against the Clickbank terms of service, and it's an "illegal" hoplink. I wouldn't worry about it too much, and the risk is too big for such a small thing.
Not true, unless they've changed things recently. (Clickbank even provides a method to cloak links.) Try/Google the hop linker.
I agree with Webray. Cloaking is NOT illegal. Actually, Clickbank suggests to cloak your links. If you read their FAQ Library you will see, what I mean. Have a look at Point 2 > http://www.clickbankbusinessguide.com/2008/03/clickbank-faq-affiliate-tools.html
