Okay, I have a really bad feeling. I thought it would be great to make my own product banner. I thought I was cutting out the proper code. Now I'm not sure I've been doing this correctly. Can anyone help me? I just need to confirm what steps you take to create your own? I'm confused, do I take the code from the product link image only? I seem to get clicks in my stats, but is this omission meaning no sales because of not properly tracking? I'm really confused and feeling like a dork. Just so you know, you don't have to make the links manually, Amazon has a new toolbar that will create the links for you. You can use images or text which ever you prefer. Also, it'll embed your tracking id automagically so you'll be sure that your getting paid for sales generated via your link. Good luck, PuReWebDev
Thanks for the replies. I almost gave up hope on getting some help as a newbie. I think I'm a bit confused still. I will look again at the auto link generator. Just to clarify, I am making the links manually because I want to create my own banner, and simply have that url correct. Now I will look into it more about the link to this product via the toolbar. In fact, I'm still not 100% certain that I can make my own banner and affix my affiliate code to it. For example I could lie about the price of a product on my banner just to generate the click through.
Okay, just to update. I looked a little deeper at the "link to this page" or basically the product link creator page. I know I'm not stupid. What I needed to do was choose "image only", get the html, paste that on my page. Then change the image source to the image I created which I host on my server. The process isn't exactly cut and dry or obvious. Simply said, making a mistake on the code could cost a lot of money if not done properly. I made that mistake with another affiliate program already.
