Can somebody check...

Hey, I have a quite large (in dimension) sized background picture on my site. And I'm worried it slows down the loading time too much.

I can't check it accurately because my internet is lagging today!

The site is here. Can some body check the site and let me know how long (in seconds) it took to load?

    Thank you,
    Michael

125kb for a background-graphic is way too much!

You should at least save it as jpeg. If you use photoshop
then go to save for web and choose JPEG High.
It is still looking good and only half as large in filesize!

HeNsS, a JPEG of the same quality would be around 190Kb's. In order to reduce the size using JPEG I would have to reduce the quality.

Okay, I optimized the image a bit. It's still a PNG, but it's more than half the original 125kb and is now 47kb!

    Could somebody please re-check this?

    Thanks,
    Michael :)

If the background image file size is too large, you can optimize the images using ps or fireworks .
