Is it preferable to have an incoming link from the highest PR webpage of a particular site, or to have incoming links sitewide on that site, even though some links may becoming from PR 0 pages?
If its sitewide link from a related website to yours it might be good. Be leary of getting your link placed next to other websites that don't compliment yours at all. ~ you don't want your link to be associated with a spammy site. Ive also seen sitewide links cause penalization. For example, I ranked #5 for " the best restaurant in portland " - before I got some sitewide links from another local website related to bars and restaurants. Then I purchased a sitewide link from the local site, my link goes live on 1000 + pages and one week later I'm no where in the top 50 for the target I was originally #5 for. IMO - I think we got a temporary penalization for acquiring too many links too fast. But in the long run, Im hoping the penalization will be lifted in a couple months and the links will be deemed natuaral thus helping us move past the #5 spot to hopefully 1,2 or 3. It could be sandbox to. The site has been in Google a long time, but no search engines related our site with the words " the best restaurant in Portland " - Kind of typical for the sandbox when you get top 10 placement 4 weeks after you start your SEO efforts then SPANK! boom your no where in site or find yourself on the fifth page. If you do go with the sitewide links, I think its most beneficial if you leave them there for at least 6 months. Otherwise they don't help out nearly as much at they could.
i m agree with nick site wide links will only help to increase back links but it wont help to get ranking. it is advisable to buy only relevant links.it will help lot.
It is better to have incoming link fro the high page rank because google determines popularity of site that links to yours. The greater the number of incoming links the higher your rankings.Incoming links from sites that already attract a lot of traffic will definitely increase the number of visitors to site compared to sites that are new or have a small amount of traffic.
Few the links you have from a site the better. Do not go for sitewide links. Link from a higer PR page will be beneficial provided it is related to your theme.
If you buy sitewide links, you need to keet them for considerable amount of time (say 1 year or more). Massive changes in backlinks may trigger SE penalties. Try to increase backlinks in a gradual and consistent mannter.
Sitewide links are death. The best link is one that is buried in text almost like shooting for a bulls eye. The algo is always looking for links pages. This is why directories are dead also. Don't get me wrongg they are better than nothing, but no where near as good as a natural. We should think of linking like forging a £20 note. The closer it looks to the real thing there better. Google looks for fakes. Thus anymore than say 10 links in a decending orderly fashion, Or at the places where text links are bought and sold. This is why presell pages are getting popular since they set the link context as well as smudging the algo so it beieves it is not really a text link
I've had pretty bad experiences with sitewide links especially when they include thousands of pages. My SERP ranks dropped a lot after I got some sitewide links. Links from one page with great PR are better IMO.
Sitewide links are good for SEO on law frequency keywords. The best acceptor of sitewide link is sitemap or category pages, but if you would be unaccurate doing it you can be penalized for a long term. So you must think twice before adding sitewide links.
It depends really. Like someone already mentioned earlier, if the link is placed on a related website, which looks good, isn't obviously selling links and has some value, why not. One should be careful with the anchor text, though. The domain name is usually a safe bet, also the site name. Deeplinking with highly optimized keywords could potentially also raise a red flag. As always, it is wise not to go overboard with getting sitewide links as acquiring thousands of backlinks at the same time could get you penalized quicker than you can say "holy crap why am I not in the 1. serp anymore"?
Repetitiveness may be an issue that leads to a backlink being ignored. Can't see that google would penalize you for another site mass linking to yours. Now why would that be the case?
I don't see ANY reason why sitewide links will get you deindexed (or punished). If this was the case, all your competitors would be spamming your assets in crappy websites in a simple goal to get you deindexed. Logically, it just doesn't make sense. google may not give you credit but it will probably never hurt you. I do agree, if you site-wide - Keep it there.
