RSS Feeds are good way to attract visitors but can they produce backlinks as well if submitted to free RSS/Feed websites? Also can you guys please highlight some tips on having RSS/Feed as link building tool? Thanks,
Not all RSS feed websites will generate backlinks for your site. However, there are some out there that DO generate free backlinks to your posts. Unfortunately I haven't looked into this in great detail, so I can't give you a good list of RSS sites that have this feature, but I'm sure somebody at DP can give you a few links As for a link building feature, I'm sure you can see how having a site which is giving you free deep backlinks can be a great asset. If every post you publish automatically gets a deep backlink, you will have a head start in the link building aspect. I have definitely noticed a few of my RSS feed submissions in my Google search results, so I would definitely recommend it as an addition to regular link building (that is, do it only if you have time - don't focus on it).
Hey - We were discussing this in another thread. I had an idea for building an RSS backlinking network. The idea was the following: 1) You would submit your RSS feed in one place. 2) The RSS feed would be disaggregated and each entry in the RSS feed would be sent to a different site. 3) You would get a list of all the backlinks. In other words, an RSS feed with 10 entries would end up on 10 different sites - each linking to the original source. If you wanted to, you could put the same link in your RSS 10 times, with different text for variation of links. I have all the pieces to build this (code, diverse servers, etc). I think it would take about 4 hours. But don't feel like doing it unless there were people interested in the project to help get the thing going. Feedback?
I was looking in to this aspect and found it can generate backlinks but I was going through Google AdSense for feeds and created some feeds but later I noticed that it changes the feed entries target url to something like: http://feedproxy.google.com/[your feed name] Now the question is - can this feed generate backlinks?
yes, rss feeds CAN give you backlinks if you submit your feed to rss engines/directories. i wrote a blogpost on RSS Feed Submit which you can look at for more info
Hey Purdue 512, I'm really interested in your idea and not a time waster so I'll pm you about it. Happy to pay you if we can make something that works
I am still confused, all I knew was rss feed could bring traffic working as a bookmark. But how do we get backlinks from it?
If you use Feedburner, you have to set up your feed so that your links are followed. http://blogs.feedburner.com/feedburner/archives/2007/04/whats_up_with_that_vol_3_seo_1.php
RSS feeds are often syndicated, if your feed contains a link in the description field it can generate backlinks. Also sometimes they are syndicated with the link field in place which results in backlinks. Another consideration is, more and more people are using RSS to filter content. They don't have the time to visit 100 sites every morning but its not a big deal to scan the feeds and click through on important items. And finally if you don't have a feed, your competitor probably does... I of course am biased, but find RSS feeds to be very effective at driving traffic. ;-)
I think RSS feeds can generate if your content is very good. Because visitors of your site will link if to your site if the quality of your site is good. I can say that I get some links like this. Some visitors comment on my blog and when i check they have already given a backlink to my blog.
Thanks for the PM.. At least 1 person is interested in this idea. If there are a few more takers, I'd be happy to open it up to forum members for testing... Again - The idea is that you would submit your RSS to one site and generate a single backlink from EACH ENTRY in the feed at DIFFERENT sites. This *could* be a new form of link club (not ring or exchange)... We could actually use free hosting sites for the backlinks. Let me know if you're interested. If we get a big group of people to each build a free hosting account, we could get something interesting going here for backlinks.. No, they would not carry huge authority, but you could get - say - 100 links with one submission. That's worth something. And it would be your content, which helps relevancy.
Ok, I figured out a way to get links - just include a full link to your page in the description of each rss post (could be multiple with keywords as well).
