Can pyramid linking be used in conjunction with the coop network?

    Hi,

Can the new pyramid linking (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=63728&page=17&pp=20) scheme be used in conjunction with the coop ad network?

The TOS state that the coop can't be used with other ad networks such as link vault. But I'm not sure whether or not the pyramid linking counts as a ad network.

    Regards,

    fcmisc.

Are the links distributed automatically? That would probably be the main indicator.

The links are standard html links and it is up to each webmaster to add the links to their site by hand.

I expect it will be OK but its obviously Shawns call.

Essentially the links are no different to if 2 webmasters agreed to exchange links except pyramidlinking.com suggests which links you should add.

Also the links are not sitewide.

Thanks for the near instant reply TOPS30!

Links are not automatically distributed. Users view and approve links before copying them onto their websites.

Does that mean that the two systems can be used in conjunction with one another?

Wait for Shawn to be sure but I don't see any violation. Underlying methodology and technology is vastly different as well as the aims of the programs. Should be fine.

    Another question:

Shawn, are we allowed to sell sitewide links with multiple urls/anchor texts on sites that also have co-op on them? I know for a fact that many co-op users currently do this, but thought it best to ask anyway.

I think that this would be very different then the Co-op or LV, because the individual webmasters would have to go to other webmasters and sell links, and there would not be an automated way of getting links from all of the sites that sell sitewides with multiple anchor texts/urls.

The sites would be using a script to automatically place the sitewides, and the webmasters who buy sitewides would be able to add/modify/delete links, but the links would not be placed on every site that has that script installed, only those sites that they have purchased the links from by going to the individual webmasters.

A clarification on this would be appreciated!

I expect that if the script allows links to be placed sitewide on third party sites and altered by a person other than the owner of the site then it would conflict with the coop.
