I know cancer is caused by abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells in animals and humans but does it occur in plants
Good question. I had to look on Google: http://www.askabiologist.org.uk/answers/viewtopic.php?id=1216
hmmm..Interesting question. I think so since cancer is cells dividing abnormally due to DNA damage. But the cancer in plants may work differently.
If this question wasn't asked in this forum I wouldn't have known the answer. Apparently plants do get cancer.
If Cancer is a form of sickeness, then logically we know that plants get sick, we can see this visually. Plants die and they get sick, so it could be possible that they get cancer.
This is the first time I hear something like this, and my answer is that i don't think it's possible.
Every live creature on our planet consists of cells and we are humans not an exception. So if I'm not mistaken cancer is like a cell sabotage and I guess that it can be happen to plants.
