Can Paypal really hold your funds over nothing??

I've been talking to some people on other forums and there was an incredible number of them that claim that paypal freezed their money...

I told them that paypal will not hold their funds over nothing.. there must be a reason.

But they kept insisting that their money was put on hold for no reason at all and it's been like that for months...

This never happened to me but I'm a little concerned. I think that they will hold your money if some complications arise not for nothing....

Some other people said that they can hold your funds if you recieve a payment higher than $2000!

Can all these rumors be true? Doeas paypal really hold your money over nothing?

    What's your say in this?

    Thanks in advance

I don't think so that paypal hold your money without any valid reason. They hold money only for suspicious activity as far as i know.

    DON.

PayPal never holds someone's money without any reason. If the paypal account is used legally then there is not any problem.

I've had a problem with paypal freezing my account. THey thought someone had got access to my account without my permission and so put a freeze on it. Now I can't get to the account. I need to verify the account again but it was opened it the Uk and i'm not in Australia and they say I have to verify in the UK - so guess I'll have to wait a year or so!

It's a obvious fact, i support what deluxdon said.
They can't hold anyone's money without a valid reason.

I'm sure people do something suspicious, which held their money to be freezed.

As far as I know paypal hold your money for 2 reasons. one if your account is get limited and you are required to verify your account untill then your funds are locked.
Second if paypal find suspicious activity in your account, then they may ban your account.

Although you are clear from your end, if they smell suspect due to any reasons ( best known to them) then your funds are blocked for absolutely nothing.

Paypal would surely send you an email with a reason as to why they needed to hold your money and limit your account ..though it can be in general/standard format....

There is always a reason, but very often their reason is weak and unfounded. They are also getting more strict on their holding procedures.

I've had an account permanently banned even after completing all of their removal procedures. This was for tangible products, all with tracking numbers and no disputes.
