Ok I got a silly question here, I have a Paris hilton fan site and am thinking of getting some artist to draw some wallpaper for me featuring Paris. Am planning to sell it for a few buck a piece. Can she sue me?
of course, she CAN if she want. You have to be careful. Maybe she will not sue you personally, maybe she does not care, maybe she does not know internet, BUT her lawyers or legal agents are everywhere. That's their life. Sue people to get $. good luck Temp
To get the poster or whatever you plan to have done for you, take a copy of it to a lawyer and explain what it is, what you plan to do with it, etc. He (or she) can better advise you on your project than anyone here.
Watched her show yesterday night. She looks like a nice enough person, so I think you are safe as long as you don't do anything to hurt her name or reputation Hmm, she's pretty too
Yes, she can sue you. Not because you have a fansite of hers (she probably loves that) but because you're going to make a picture of her and sell it. As vain as they are, celebrities (especially celebrities famous for being famous like Hilton) hates it more when someone makes a buck off them and they don't get a cent. I would stick with the fansite and forget about selling pictures of her for a buck. It's just not worth it, and the fansite will probably bring you more revenues anyhow, what with all those Paris Hilton ads on Adsense. :/
Yea you're right, am just trying to capitalize on all those Juicy adwords ad what if I make a site something like this? (Caricatures) http://www.dimpleart.com/shop/index.php
Yes she can sue you for anything even if it is base-less. And she can keep it going in court for years at a comporably minimal expense to her and massive expense to you. Pretty much she can 'price you out of the legal game,' because she has deeper pockets. That is how the law works... who ever has deeper pockets can price the opposition out of the waters usually. Criminal law is a little different. But I would bet she and her agents don't give a damn till you really make big money *and they notice* you are. / or are causing harm to her and her name though negative stuff. It depends on the content, and my personal advice is to be respectful towards her in what you do. Sure, try and make a buck, but celebrities are people too, remember that.
