I read somewhere that .org domain names could not be used for "for profit" web sites...is there any truth to that? Thanks, jmacleod
They aren't intended for 'for profit' organisations but domain name trading is a business like any other - if you're prepared to pay for the domain name you can use it for whatever type of site you like (well, as long as it's legal).
Yup as stated above, they are "instended" for organizational use which is generally non-profit organizations, etc... But you own the domain and only must abide by certain laws.
Thanks to everyone for the replies... I too have seen many sites with .org used for business...it's just that I've never taken the time to read the fine print when buying a .org domain and wasn't sure if there really was something in there about that or not, as I had read somewhere (I wish I could remember where I read it!). I'm not worried about it...just curious... Thanks, jmacleod
There are no restrictions on what you can use .org for, so use it for whatever you want (as far as it's legal)
