Can one user trigger a duplicate conversion tracking even accidentally?

    Hi,

I have a website in which users have to "login" to a members area for a conversion to happen. Yet, once they login, they will love the service, and come back hundreds of times in the future.

Will adwords only count the first time they visit as a conversion? If not, is there any special setting I can setup on adwords to make this happen?

    Regards,

    Wyatt

I messed up the title... it should say... "EVENT" not "even". Too bad I can't edit the title. :-(

If I understand your correctly, you are placing the conversion code in the wrong place. You don't want it on a login page. You want to place it on a signup confirmation page, one which will normally be accessed only once.

I think it is possible to count more than one conversion. If the user somehow returns to your confirmation page, a second (and third and fourth...) conversion will be counted. That's why you want the code on a page that is accessed once only and only in a certain way.

If you put the code on your confirmation page, if the user bookmarks that page and returns to it later, there is the possibility of counting multiple conversions. Note that it will register for the keyword and ad they clicked on. It will also be counted on the day they clicked the ad. The cookie tracks for 30 days.

How to counter? Have a page just before the confirmation page that contains the tracking code and redirects to your confirmation page. Put a one second delay so that the code gets read properly.
