I was reading more about nofollow and dofollow urls. and I found this, im just sharing the juice of the article.

    Can NoFollow Links Hurt You?

    Comments from "NoFollow" blogs:

    * DO NOT improve your website position in search engine results.
    * DO NOT hurt your website position in search engine results.

    comments on "DoFollow" blogs:

    * DO help a website get a higher position in search engines results.
    * DO help get more human traffic and sales because having found your website on top positions people will likely click on your link.

Hope this might give a little help to new friends.

well in my experience the no follows links DO NOT hurt, as site explorer from Yahoo includes no follow where as Google doesn't. It is a good idea to have a good mix of links just in case google changes its mind and then takes into consideration no follow, imagine if you had none...your gone from the SERPS.

I agree with geester. Having both actually helps. I outsource a lot and do a variety of linking. Some follow and some no-follow.

I also agree with Geester and to add. I see this question is in regards to blogs. I wouldnt want links just from blog comments. If 90% of your links come from blog commenting, regardless of nofollow/follow, that doesn't appear as natural "votes". I personally dont trust the future of comment links. It can't be that hard for search engines to determine whether the link is or isnt a comment link.

Are comment links votes from others? Nope

Do the owners of the top companies or fortune 500 companies post comments with links to their company website?

If search engines fully discount the effectiveness of comments altogether how will your website be effected?

    Just some thoughts...

nofollow is not a standard. It was invented by Google. Yahoo! and Bing also partially respect it. But you can have your site indexed in other search engines like Ask.com.

I don't think nofollow comments hurts ranking or PR of website. I have checked backlinks of website with nofollow and rank better on search engines.

Yeah No Follow links can't hurt you, but it can actually help you. Usually good blogs are No Follow and it is not wise to only comment on Do Follow Blogs. Make sure it is 50-50.

Only Google follows the DO follow/No Follow rule, Yahoo and the rest don't us it as a rule. As far as your website goes you are trying to make all backlinks look as natural as possible while still building them as fast as possible. So having no follow links will make your site look like its running on natural progression
