Emotionally, yes. Listening to happy songs can uplift our spirit and make us feel more positive.

Music CAN relieve both physical and mental pain! Physical pain is felt because pain receptors in the brain TELL you something hurts-if you can divert your thinking, at least a little, then some of the pain also "goes". Music alters your mood , so it can make you feel happier-or sadder!! I know, for myself, playing music that makes me feel good also takes away pain!

In theory, music only provides a distraction to pain, however, it's been proven that some music relaxes people, and this relaxation can help reduce pain in some areas, especially muscle problems. However, I would say it depends on the person, if a person is able to get distracted by the music, then it will work, however, should the person be unable to 'get into' the music, then the distraction wouldn't work.

it's more than distraction, music changes your mood and your mind and the pain goes through the brain...you can defy the pain with music .

I think there is a definite possibility that music can relieve pain. It can change your mood, make you happy, sad, energtic, motived etc. And since there is a mind-body connection, changing one's mental experience, could cause a change in one's physcial experience.
