We have our website largeformat-print.co.uk related to banners, display stands, and other promotional materials. We have been doing various activities to get our keywords ranked high on the search engines, but we are not getting expected results thus We asked a seo consultant regarding our website design, he said that there is a problem in our design, and you can’t achieve ranks in your keywords until you change your layout. The navigation structure/ design of your site can have an impact on your rankings when it comes to usability, i.e. how easy is it to navigate your site. An intuitive site which is easily navigated would rank higher because the search engine spider can crawl your site more easily which means that more pages would be indexed, the quality score of your site would be higher and therefore your search engine traffic would also be better. I see your site uses a lot of image links, this is not search engine friendly, as search engine spiders disregard all non-textual elements such as images and therefore would not follow those links as a human being would. You need to ensure that you use text links so that the spider can crawl your site. Otherwise the site has SEO friendly URLs, etc., although I would suggest 301 redirecting your non-www version of your site to the www-version to prevent duplicates. Hope this helps Sadie
HTML or CSS navigation includes all main links from navigation helps users and spiders both. So, a good navigation always matter in high rankings as well accessible internal pages for users.
i don't think so the layout is the crucial thing in getting high rank you can say , the linking of pages and positions & amount of that links on your pages so, if we fill links in footer and sidebar with targeted keywords it will defiantly boost your inner pages ranking and your site perform better
Yes, maybe it would help if you will change the layout of your website. Make it simpler and cleaner. It would be better if you have a layout that does not need to be scrolled down too much. It should just fill out an entire web page. Make a different web page for your articles. And with this, you have to ensure that your navigation system is simple to understand and use.
In above post Sadie explained beautifully that how much you have to improve your design layout and IMO its not a bigger issue.One additional thing to keep in mind is that batter navigation and inter linking increase the probability of indexing of your web site.
Don't use flash because crawler doesn't crawl the flash. If you are using the images then give them alt tag with the targeted keywords. Use good navigation, it is very useful for visitors also...
