I just put my site up. Its on page 16. In front of me are mostly forum sites where someone's post used the key phrase I am searching for high position on. The post itself used the phrase once and THE DATE of the post is often years ago. These particular forum postings don't have back links, at least not to the post. Can the search engine algorithm really be so screwed up that I now have to come up with 10, 40, 100 backlinks in order to advance past this heap of ancient crap Jim
Backlinks aren't anything But you need to build links Those forums post are on forums wich have backlinks + age + maybe authority ...
Where these other forums probably beat you is their domain link profile. Their entire domain is likely older and has more quality backlinks. I think you're out of touch with reality if you think a brand new site should easily outrank such sites. It's your logic that is screwed up, not Google.
Its quite true that you need to get more backlinks than your competitor. These are only the ways to beat your competitor in the online field
