You can get good traffic. But your link will be indexed by Yahoo but not by Google. Similarly you can try wikipedia also to get handful of traffic.
Just use Yahoo Answers for traffic...Like most said, they are nofollow links so they are worthless to Google, or so we think...
Yahoo Answers expire very fast, so you will have to post more and more answers with links inside. I don't think it will help you in the long run!
Thanks guys.... I have given up on this after all my answers were deleted. I wasn't spamming.... i was actually answeing some questions.... i was just leaving my link at the end.
Wikipedia is very difficult because its so moderated that getting good links in is very rare. Jesus christ how many times can like a dozen different people say that yahoo links are no follow and don't add anything to your PR?
I don't really like Yahoo Answers for promotion... too much time and not a whole lot of return. At least in my experience. I've given helpful answers and have received traffic here and there, but it's not too lasting and it hasn't converted that well for me either... __________________ Low Gas Prices
yahoo answers dominate keywords quite well. Drop a path to your site. You will get traffic and it's part of a conversation, so people are willing to believe a recommendation over an advertisement. if your bottom line is to make money over getting page rank to your site, yahoo answers is worth it. too many people focus too much on just getting ranking and forget about the making money. if for you keyword, you see yahoo answers in the top 10. You better get involved in the conversation some how. Your more likely to not be able to outrank a yahoo answer, so join them
Nowadays, I often come across people manipulating Yahoo answers by posting and then replying to their own queries. It won't give backlinks as it a nofollow but if the Q&A is informative and get ranked in SE, it would bring in the traffic.
Yahoo Answers, the same as Wikipedia, is not a spam site. If you post valuable contribution you can links back to your site from any search engine, not only Yahoo, and I know this because I have found those answers of a friend of mine indexes in Google and Live.com as well. Spamming Yahoo Answers is just the same that Wikipedia, you will be reported, your link deleted and you may be banned overtime. By the way lycos, you can contribute with Yahoo Answers Community reporting those lame "answerers" for TOS violation and/or abuse.
I worked for a business and part of my job was to post yahoo answers relevant to our keywords with links to helpful products. One account was banned after I achieved level two and I could never figure out why. My last post didn't even have a link in it. I made sure I made posts with links about as often as without links so it wouldn't appear to be spamming. We did get some traffic but not an immense amount. ALL my answers were relevant and although I appealed the ban, they wouldn't reinstate the account. Boss had me create another one and that's still active, although I don't work there anymore. I had it up to a best answer rate of over 25% before I left there. If I were anyone trying to use yahoo answers for your business in any way, make sure it doesn't look like you're spamming there. You WILL get banned. Scifipie Guy
Maybe you were banned for posting your links in irrelevant questions. My friend and I also provide our clients with Yahoo Answers adveritising service at their request, but we only post comprehensible and detailed answers that are helpfun to the person asking, and perhaps other readers, keeping and the resouce link always relevant to the category and nature of the product or service. For this we target our clients' requirements and we don't use multiple accounts or any other dirty tricks. Of couse we don't charge peanuts for this job either, as some member around the Buy, Sell and Trade forum. I have seen spammers are often associated to people wanting to make a quick buck that post 2 or 3 yadda yadda words with one or more totally out of context links, that is why we also contribute reporting spam and getting irrelevant answers or questions deleted. As in example someone was spamming with a link to visit an Asian church as solution to get your HD repaired, your husband come back or your video uploaded to YouTube... even worst, that site was in an unknown language, at least for my eyes and knoweledge.
No harm creating back link to you own websites. It really drives traffics to your websites. Try to gives the best answer for every questions you answered. Don't forget, you are branding yourself and your websites, which can improve your website indexing in Yahoo.
