Can I use webcam for other applications?

I have installed an HP 3100 webcam with the ArcSoft software that comes with it.
I can see myself on my web cam via the ArcSoft WebCam Companion 3 software, but I'd like to use the webcam at a video conferencing site. When I select Launch Utility, it shows these choices only AOL, Skype, Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger, does this mean I can't use this webcam for any other purpose? (like video-conferencing?)

you can use your webcam also for video conferencing of course.
open the website where you want to video conference. before your stream is live you will have to allow access to your webcam(click allow).
If you want to broadcast for exemple on yahoo messenger and video conference in the same time you need a splitcam software.

You can always use your webcam for any other purpose like a security camera if you have the necessary software.

There should be setting on the site you can use to set up your webcam for chat. If you can't find them try contacting support on the site and ask if you need any special plug-ins or and anything.
