Can i use unequal ram in my ram slot

    Hello friends,

I am using Intel Pentium 4 2.93Ghz processor with 512 mb RAM (DDR1) in one slot. I have a 128 mb ram (DDR1) without being used. I heard that when unequal sized rams are used in ram slot any one of the ram is spoiled !

Is that true ? or can i use both 512 and 128 mb ram in my ram slots ?

Please provide me a suitable answer !

    Thanks in advance .

Using two different sized rams in ram slots wont affect the ram...but make sure that rams are of same speed... if they are of different speeds(even though same DDR1 type) the other one will be of no use...

Having different sized RAM won't make any difference however if one is slower then the other then you may have a bottleneck which affects overall performance.

Make sure they are of the same frequency.
Variable size doesnt spoil any RAM.
    I use a 256MB and one 512MB DDR2 Ram.

yes you can as long as these modules have the same pc numbers, it will just add up the ram you will now have 512 + 128 = 640 of RAM. not bad.

Many schools f thought require you to have equal sizes of Ram to get the best performance.
2 one gig sticks and matched set.
I recommend you scan with Crucial and use there Ram, because it is top of the line.

Using Cheap Ram can cause incompatibility issues and some will not work at all.:D

You can use but your 128 MB ram is waste whether you are using it or not you will get the same speed as that of 512 only. if you use Same Memory in both the slot then no problem it will work fine.

Yes you can use different capacity of rams in your pc.These will work in single channel mode instead of dual channel mode.

you certainly can use two equal rams but of same type...they also must be of same frequency i.e speed...i am using one 333Mhz n other 400Mhz..it works..but make sure difference is less..dont try to use one 333 and other 800...doesnt works...

RAM's comes in pairs of the same speed, for later models which uses 4 slots and the new boards that has 2 slots. You cannot use different RAM speed, your computer will only use the one with the highest MB/G.

I use one 1GB and one 256MB RAM... If its different clock speed, it may reduce your performance...
