You can't use anything you did not create or buy rights to without express permission. Everything has an automatic copyright. Using those logos would be trademark infringement.
You need to get permission from the person or persons who own the photos. Otherwise its copyright infringement and Lawsuits SUCK!
i believe in thier terms and condition will include the copyright, even there are no statement on/near the image
There are some great "free" royalty free photo sites out there if you Google them. Lots of quality images you can use without fear of getting in trouble. Using copyright content is just not worth the risk!
mjewel, don't they first have to send a letter, e-mail stating who they are, and instructing them to take it down?
No, you are liable from the minute you use something that isn't yours. You might be confusing the requirement for a DMCA take down action - which is a formal notice to the sites host to take down the site.
Just ask the Liverpool supporters club for some promotional photos. I'm sure they would give you some.
Well, I have to agree with mjewel's option. You should better contact the author before you use the pictures. And use some free picture resource.
Everything crated unqiuely is under copyright protection. You should be okay though as long as your site isn't making a profit or hugely successfuly. However, it would be in your best interest to take the pictures down.
As a photographer I have strong views on this. You can't use copyrighted pictures even if you are not using them for profit. A copyright holder has to take action if they know of a breach of their rights, or their right to an item can possibly be challenged. This is why companies like McDonalds take even the smallest guys to court over the smallest breaches. As for my view, it takes a lot of money, time and effort to get good shots. I make money off my efforts and, apart from the copyright issues, I don't want someone using my hard-earned efforts for free. Also, remember that some of these issues such as the photos in the pic here involve trademarks as well, which are another minefield. Best to take your own photos and stuff Cheers, Rowan
