Ok so I stumbled across this site which allows you to download free articles. I need the following articles relating to music and they are offering it free. It is uploaded by user and free of charge to use it says is PLR but doesn't give you any file. Am I still legally allowed to use this? Also how can I securely use this without any fear of being approached should I take pictures of the site to show it offered PLR for the articles I used? I know it probably won't matter that I won't get in any trouble as these PLR article I know is selling online and there are tons of these same articles all over the net. I most likely won't face any legal issues but is just sort of something personal. I want to make sure I am legally entitled to use it. I would purchase it from someone at trade bit however I don't even know if they would offer me a license or just simply give me the article as the other already has. I hope you will be able to provide some opinions on this and I appreciate every opinion I get. TQ in advance.
If they allow you to use it for free for commercial use then it's most likely fine. In this case just make sure to give the article or site a link back. Btw don't just copy this websites articles to use in there original content. That's duplicate content and can get you banned from search engines. You'd be better off copying it and writing your own review about the article or something.
Thanks for your advice, the site is a site which users may upload material and share it so I doubt I can link back to the specific article since its actually a file. But my issue is there is no PLR rights to the said PLR articles. But the user titled his page is PLR music Article. Thanks once again
Duplicate content will not get get you banned. Duplicate content happens all the time, shows up just fine in google. Why does EZA exist? Don't they want people to publish the articles? That's just one example. Stephen C
If the person who uploaded the article isn't the legal copyright holder, then you are legally responsible for damages if you put it on your site. It doesn't matter if you have a screen shot of the website saying it was ok to use. You have to be very careful when using content that you didn't create.
There is an increasing tendency to buying PLR articles for later rewriting so they can be turned into relatively unique content.
Oh ok thanks. This is the link its from: http://www.docstoc.com/collection/392/music-plr-articles/ Its also selling on tradebit: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/8718814-50-music-plr-article-pack I'd buy it but there is 10 pack each rounding to $2 and I only need a few articles it also looks like the exact same articles. If I purchase it from this person is there more security becuase if there is then I would but I'm afraid that its just like any other who gather the articles and don't really have any permission. I asked the person if he has any PLR rights to the articles but he didn't respond. Also if I purchase it from him and later persued by the real author am I able to differ the legal actions to the seller since I supposedly purchased the rights to use the articles. Just a note I also don't intend to edit the articles but use it in its entirety on my blog maybe edit a few minor details which I think suited but that is all. It is not for SEO purposes just need some content. I really appreciate your help. TQ Thanks everyone for your advice A lot more response I got here than on the V7N forums, also I notice the information here is more informed compared to there as well. -Just my opinion.
You really have no security when buying something from someone you don't know. I wouldn't use an article from someone like that whether or not I bought it or not. You are legally responsible for damages if you use it - buying it doesn't give you any legal protection. You get sued. You legally have to pay the copyright holder. You can then try and track down someone via an email address and try to collect what you had to pay from them - and the chances of being successful are about zero.
You have no guaranteed protection but worst case scenario they'll tell you to take it down before they take action. The original owner may send a threatening letter to you saying you owe emm money. But, they'll actually have to take you to court and they won't go through that hassle, especially if you take it down.
Ok thanks for both your help. If I choose to rewrite them slightly I shouldn't face such consequences right? If I purchase the PLR for the purpose of changing them that it is not dectectable by CopyScape is that OK?
