    yes mate you can use other!!
    just Visit html Tab next to layout.
    replace the Html code below by New Template code. New Templates can be found thru google.
    "New Blogger Template "

    Definitely you can use other templates. Check the information on the help page, it is full of various things that you can do with your blogger.com
