Can I use my FB page to convey product update posts to my customer base?

    Hi I have a product website that has been active for some time, and I have just created a FB page for the product. I had hoped it would allow me to post updates about new product features, that would then be emailed to any of our customers that have Liked our product page.

    Then I did some reading and found people indicating that a post you post on your page is only delivered to a small percentage of those folks that had explicitly liked the page. Is that the case? I dont see the point unless everybody who has indicated interest in receiving notifications receives one.

    Have I been wasting my time setting up a FB page? Thanks for any advice.
