You will need to point your domain name nameservers to your web hosting somehow

I've never done this, but on the note about cheap web hosting just look in my signature.

Why not setup a wordpress blog and remove all blogspot from it?

Is there an export/import between the two that is possible?

Then you will be able to run it as you choose.

Blogger provides basic web hosting of your blog over Blogger software. You can remove blogspot from your blog by purchasing custom domain, You can purchase a domain name form Blogger interface itself. Or purchase it some other service and re-direct to Blogger. A detailed tutorial on Blogger custom domain is available here. You don't need hosting account to host custom domains in Blogger, its free.

You may take a look http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55373. In short you only need to buy a domain name and keep hosting on Blogspot.

Sure you are and will be able to create blog with yourname.wordpress.com for free without paid hosting, but if you want to get rid of wordpress extensional in your wordpress blog url, you will have to pay for hosting. On the other hand Blogspot offers free hosting of customized blogger domains.

    Hope I am correct here:)

I'm not familiar with Wordpress. But most domain registrar will allow you a redirection to any domain. You type yourblog.com and it redirects to yourblog.wordpress.com. The real destination can be hidden too, so you'll only see yourblog.com.

Is it what you're talking about?

You should have everything explained about hooking up your blog to a domain name at Blogspot.com as I can recall.

I just bought a domain and then edit the CNAME on domain manager,
