Put TOS in such a way that you have the rights to use it or get permission from them. Nobody often will have any issues in it.

He won't have any problems if he also writes the source and links to it. Trust me!

I don't know why people don't get this. Unless the content is rewritten so that Google doesn't flag it as duplicate content, you will be penalized by Google if they catch you, and they will. If you don't believe me, simply Google "duplicate content". The first page that comes up is Google telling you what they'll do to you.

A person doesn't need permission if it isn't registered, but I'm curious, where did you get that from?

pamlovelyone, Google doesn't penalize in that regard. They never have. In just about every case, any page that is spidered after the original is simply not ranked. Some do slip by Google, though. Search engine computers are not infallibility.

Not if it is registered. In the past I have seen authors take chapters, sections from their registered works and put it in blogs and boards.

    Thank you.

You keep posting bad information on legal matters. Registration of a copyright is voluntary, a copyright exists from the moment it is created. A registration is NOT required - but having one does give you additional rights to litigate and seek statutory damages and attorney's fees.

Thank you for repeating what I said in my past posts.

Oh, but wait *sound effect* ~BOING~...it's "bad information"???

*shakes head* Message boards, what a trip. heh heh

I think he got the gist of it and now knows what to do.

This thread has run its course.

This is what you posted (and it's wrong):

"A person doesn't need permission if it isn't registered...."

Better to remain silent than remove all doubt (if you get my gist)

Better to remain silent if one cannot learn how to read all posts thoroughly...period (if you get my gist).

that's not correct. Without knowing the specific terms the author and site impose on usage, you can't say whether it infringes copyright or not.
