Can I use both affiliate ads and adsense on same page?

I am using an affiliate program which is actually matrimony site. I place that 250x250 banner(a fixed banner) ad in the bottom of the site. The Google adsense 250x250 banner is at the top of the site. Now the problem is , sometimes the same Matrimony company ads is also displayed by adsense, and sometimes a rival company matrimony ad is displayed by adsense banner which is at the top of the page. I dont want to remove the affiliate banner as it is earning me more than adsense in a day.

Is this violating adsense terms in any way?

My main concern is when competitive ads appear in the same page.

You can not put other competitive adds where you put adsense adds.
    Don't risk your account.

Your question helps me with the current project i am working on. My online dating site used to charge subscriptions, but with so many competitors having free dating sites, I am forced to follow. I am also doing affiliates and adsense and Im currently re designing the site so all the ads can be placed correctly. The company who is doing the re design has never mentioned a potential problem with having adsense and affiliates. Your comment that your affiliates make more than the adsense is encouraging for what I am doing. Thanks

You can put other ads on pages with adsense as long as the other ads do not look similar to adsense ads

I don't think performance ads and paid ads fall under the same category. In other words, affiliate links and adsense should be able to fall hand in hand and not work against eachother in the eyes of the TOS, correct?

Affiliate ads and adsense ads on the same page are not a problem. But putting adsense ads on the same page with bidvertiser or Yahoo would be a problem because they are the same type of text ad and google does not want that.

Thanks everyone.. I read somewhere that google has now allowed to place other company's contextual ads on the page having adsense.. Like chitika.. etc. (Not YPN coz YPN has not allowed this.. lol ) .. If its legal to place contextual ads then I think affiliate ads will be no problem.

So I think placing normal affiliate ads will be OK.
Just be sure the placement and color design of the affiliate ad must not be confused with adsense and try to place those two as far as possible in a page.
