Can I use a Heatsink for Socket 775 with Socket 754?

    I have a heatsink that's compatible with Socket 775 but I'm not up to spending more money as I just purchased a new motherboard, CPU and power supply..

    Just wondering if there's a way to trim it down or what...

    i dont think you can as the holes that secure the heatsink would not match up.

    yeah, don't bother. The sockets are specifically designed for each one, they are not interchangeable.
