Can I turn off 'Chat' on Facebook?

While I am on Facebook is it possible to turn the 'Chat' feature off?

I find it sometimes annoying when I am busy posting comments and you get 2 or 3 people who want to chat to you!

At the top of the chat box is "Go Offline"

That will keep the chat box down until you turn it back on

 

Yes, this is the only way you can do it.

 

I had the same stuff happening. Updating client FB accounts and friends would think I was FBing and start chatting.
