Can I transfer my godaddy name to a free host?

?

What would you do?

  1. Leave it alone (free hosting with ad at top)

I recently purchased a domain here on the forum and purchased a script from another person and put them together to get what you see at handfulmusic.com. The domain is registered with godaddy, and it is also hosted using their free service. Their free service puts some ads at the top of the page that mess up the style sheet and cause my google ads to display weird links. I'm thinking of upgrading the account to remove the ads. Before I did that, I was wondering if anybody had any experience of know of a free hosting that I might be able to transfer the domain too? It's a PHP script and uses MySQL database. Any tips / suggestions on the domain transfer?

Another question might be, is it even really worth removing the link? I can probably find a way to fix the cosmetics, but will it deter CTR having the godaddy ad at the top?

Keep the domain at Godaddy and just update the nameservers which your new web hosting company will provide. Don't forget to make backups before touching anything.

You can move your site to host, paid or free, that provides the service you need. A lot of free hosts don't offer phph and mysql.

A bigger problem that you may have right now is having two pub ids on the same page. That is aganist G's TOS. I am not positive that you are in violation but I think you are. I would pull my personal ads if I were you and check with G before I put them back on the site if I stayed with the free hosting.

I would advise you to sign up for a free hosting account with freehostia.com (completely free hosting, no any ads) and just point (change) the DNS nameservers of the domain to freehostia.
