Through java script you have access to a users recent session history. You could program your site to save this info for each user. I'm not sure how far back you can see when using javascript.

If you just want to know which site people came from when clicking an actual link, Google Analytics is a very good stats program.

I have GA, but the info is from sites that have a link back to me.

What I want to know is (as my domain is quite popular, and most visitors either type it or click a bookmark on their computers) I want to know where they where so I would update content to suite what they like, I mean if they were in sport sites, I uld increase sport news, if entertainment, then the same, etc.

Thanx again and any info/ideas would be much appreciated.

    regards

GA would be the best thing. I do know that cPanel offers this Stats information which will tell you the website that brong them into your page(google.com, yahoo.com etc). I don't think there is away to check if they bookmarked it or just typing it out.

Do you mean if visitors were from a specific site, you would increase that kind of content? If so maybe you should analyze your raw log file.

My site is in Arabic, and I have visitors from few countries, and I would like to know (if I can) where were they before visiting my site.
I am using google analytics, but it only shows refereres if their was a link, the rest are "Direct".

I tried a poll/survey with give aways for people filling it so I can have an idea of what they like most, but not a lot have filled it.

Well, I do recommend a hit counter I use for all my sites. It's not so advanced but its perfect for me. You have the option to run it as cgi or php. There you can see where they where reffered from, what country there from, there ip, what ISP there using, what browser they where viewing it under, and what OS there are on. Its free you can get it at stanback.net

I already have Google Analytics, if it has this info, then I dont know where to find it :(

I acn tell from what country/os/lang etc they are coming, but I need sites, like in refering sites.
but as refering sites have a link back to me, then I usually know about it.
But the rest of the world? 70% come directly, so I want to know where on the net were they before visiting the site.

    Thanx again
