Can I stop people from buying adwords on my site name?

For example if you type "mydomain" in google adwords ads are popping up. Of course my site is ranked #1 but I dont like people advertising on my name in adwords.

you can only stop people from bidding on trademarked or copy written terms, you have to advise goodle for that to happen, they do not know all the trademarked terms.

Well I might just send the advertiser a request to quit. I dont have any official trademark.

If you use common word in your domain, it will be very difficult.

But if it is a unique and registered trademark, just tell google to avoid buyin your trademark.

You can only force them to stop if you own the trademark...you can request the advertiser to stop but it's VERY unlikely that they will.

Mm can you really stop someone from bidding on those terms even if you have a trademark? I know you could stop them from having your trademark in the ad, but bidding on the keyword I'm not so sure. It's like saying someone in the natural SERPs is appearing higher on your trademark search and asking Google to remove it.

In the US, it is impossible to stop others from bidding on your trademark. It is, however, possible to stop other advertisers from using your trademark in their ad text.

I was once asked to stop using a certain word to advertise a affiliate product I was promoting, I could not stop because that keyword got the highest clickthroughs for my ads and brought in a few sales too.

    Here is what I did.

I did some investigating, befriended the owner of the site and found out where he live and I was able to target my ads so it does show up in his geographical area. That was over 16 months ago!

I have never received another "desist" email.

For a few well known establish trademark keywords I use other PPC networks to advertise. I am surprised at the some of the results. Even though I have seen some evidence of click fraud with these small PPC networks, I still able to make a profit.

I must say though, it was the tone of the email the got me pissed and motivated to still use the trademark keyword.
