Can I Show Other Designers Work?

I just started a blog about logo design and I would like to have section where I would present some good logo designers. In that section I would put some of their work I like. Also, their name will be written and link to their website (it's like free advertising them right?). Do I have to get permission from them to do it or I don't?
    Thank you.

No, you don't need permission from them. However it is always nice to ask.

Are you serious?? This is probably dumbest answer I have ever seen. Of course you NEED permision from designer, even if you put backlink!!

Look at the license. If the work is released under open source license like GPL, Creative Commons, Public Domain, BSD license, MIT license... You don't have to ask for permission. It is already given.

On the other hand, if the designer didn't put a license to their work, you better treat it as propriety license and ask for permission. If it is a work for client, the rights is with the clients and you'll need to ask permission from each one of them. Sometimes you can see "Copyright by XXX. Used with permission" on the designer's portfolio. It is because their client gave the designers the permission to use them.
