    use wordpress + all-in-one seo plugin, setup permalinks so that they reflect the post headline, get a seo friendly theme (eg: atahualpa) then start writing! fresh and unique content, link outside wisely never forget to avoid bad neighbourhood (link farms, paid links, low level directories) and focus on your niche :)

    I'd suggest adding a decent SEO extension for your blog to start. After that make sure you're tagging your posts and writing consistently. Other then that, your off page factors should be much of the same as any site. Great content leads to natural backlinks, but you should be building backlinks yourself as well.

    What platform of blog you are using right now ? If wordpress, you can find many tips to optimized it at DP. Moreover, you can apply for seo tips on page and off page to maximum your value of blog

    There is no restrictions to SEO for your own Blog :p just do u can do, strong backlinks, unique contents and bookmarking is needed

    Personal blog is a bit harder for seo. For one thing, your blog url is not in a given niche. The only thing you can do is to stick to one or two sets of keywords when you write the blog post. For example, you want to write about your favorite food "Ginseng chicken soup", then focus on that. Dont jump to movie, and quarrel with your gf in the same post.
