Can I register for adwords with a gmail account different than my adsense account?

    I want to sign up for adwords. Can I register for adwords with a gmail account different than my adsense account? Is it ok and acceptable?

    Yes, you sure can because although they are part of the overall advertisement on Google, they are two sides of the coin. You do not need an adword account to get an adsense or the other way around.

    When you will apply for a new account with google adwords you will be asked to open a new gmail account or to open a new one.
