I just signed up for an Amazon.co.uk associates account and was wandering if I will be able to promote products from Amazon.com, or will I need to sign up for a seperate associates account at Amazon.com for that?

You will have to sign up to Amazon.com to promote their products.
I signed up with both Amazon.com & Amazon.co.uk. My sales come from co.uk. I am still trying to find products that sell as well on amazon.com as they do on amazon.co.uk.

    Separate accounts are needed.

You need seperate accounts, but you feel free to create accounts for every country/region amazon covers, there isn't any limitation how many accounts you can have.

Sure. But you won't get paid for it.

If you want to get paid for UK, you have to your your UK affiliate id.
If you want to get paid for US, you have to your your US affiliate id.

If you use your US affiliate id and someone buys from the UK site using your US id, then you don't get paid.

    (US = .com)
    (UK = .co.uk)

If you use a remote shopping cart solution, promoting Amazon.com and amazon.co.uk simultaneously can be tricky. I recommend having separate sites for each locale you target so you can take advantage of the 90 day cookie on the cart.
