can I post google adsense on front page of site?

Im just wondering, is it unprofessional or anything to post a ad on the front main page of your site, a google adsense ad? Also my keyword is only worth 12 cents a click max bid, so if I get 5000 people daily and 5% click my ad I make 1000 a month right? Thanks

Unprofessional? Well it depends on how you define unprofessional. For me it is not as long as you don't click your own adsense ads.

I don't think it is unprofessional. I have ads on all of my front pages. :)

It may be considered unprofessional depending on what type of site it is.

As others've said, whether it's a good fit for the site depends on what kind of site it is, and whether the ads have been planned for when designing the template. That said, I find that on certain sites, the front page ads make the most money, simply because the front page is the most requested page by far.

You should also remember that not everyone will enter your site by the front page anyhow. I don't think anyone is going to be worried about seeing ads on the first page they see on your site.

I think it really depends on the kind of site you want, how you want your audience to perceive it and how it is being perceived. I have some sites with 3 ads plus link on every page, I have some that only have a smattering of ads on a few different pages, and some with no ads at all.

I think if your site is designed to draw people one time from a search engine and such, then you can get away with more ads. If you are trying to naturally build a community of return visitors you have to be more restrained.

I don't think that could be an unprofessional behaviour unless you made a instutional or official etc. website......

I hate sites that have adsense on the front page. It pretty much tells me that they nothing of real value and aren't worth looking further. But I doubt that the average surfer thinks the same thing.

That's a commerce site. Its job is to sell things. It really doesn't exist for any other reason.

I'm talking about sites that are obstensibly created to inform people about various topics or issues, but instead just throw ads all over the place. For those, I'd at least keep the home page clear to get people to some information before bombarding them.

But there's nothing wrong with having a simple AdSense ad on the index in the eyes of most visitors! It would be more like when they get pop-ups, downloads, and talking ads that most people would think it has no real value.

Assuming all the clicks are from the same ad, or same valued ad for every click. But yes.

I can put myself in the shoes of an average surfer and say that we don't feel the same. Ads are expected, they are the norm. I'd be surprised not to see ads. I might even go so far as to say "What kind of site has no ads? This is unprofessional."

If your website is kinda cool and you have a decent reputation and traffic, I think it could be unprofessional to put any AdSense at all. Authority websites don't place such ads.
