I don't see how it matters, people would simply replace your adsense code with their own?

 

I think this is not a problem, user will change your Adsense code.

 

I guess he is asking to add adsense to his website, not in templates he is giving for free.

It's fine because downloading free templates isn't illegal.

 

Yes, as long as the templates are free to download allover the internet and not just warez sites, you are ok. I think it's ok even if you add your own AdSense code in the templates, but that goes a little bit too risky because you never know the nature of the website where your templates can be installed. I'm not sure about this though.
