Well.....again i would like to mention that it depends on the 'usage'! ITS no different actually....If you don't really use gmail much...you wont find the importance of the search! But to a user who uses gmail extensively...they really know how important it is.

well the joke that you are trying to make here is completely irrelevant. And trust me ...no one is laughing :)

I simply don't understand WHY some of you even bother to criticize a suggestion that is being made... for the betterment of this DP community?

There is a lot of features in this forum that I personally don't use (e.g. DP Spy, Usermap)...but I'm not complaining about them!

If this search feature is implemented in future probably some of you won't be needing/using it ....But many of us WILL....

So please try to respect other people opinion and suggestion. Comments like - "if it was needed, it would have been there" -- Doesn't really help! Because if everything was perfect, we wouldn't even have a section called "suggestions & feedbacks"!

    You need a serious comment?
In the last year none of the so called suggestions w that have been made were implemented unless there was a unanimous approval (more then 80%) on an idea which was desperately needed (the freebie sections) little tweaks and addons like these are not considered as "suggestions" to start with, your need is not considered a want in dp its basically an opinion that you hold and will be considered or discarded like all other threads, dp's policy is "if the system works, don't change it" and when the system fails then changes are made around here.

    happy?

Thats sounds like a gr8 policy. And I don't really see why we can't get unanimous approval on this regard....As far as I'm concerned ONLY 3 people (Which includes you) doesn't want the feature to be included. So you can't simply overlook a suggestion simply because "YOU think" that the feature is not needed and it won't get the unanimous approval.....right?

So let the thread run....and allow people to give out their feedback.! I should have actually started a poll on the first place...But I don't think i can include it now.

Well as for the poll you can ask smyrl to either close this thread and you can start another, but either way this feature is just an addon not a need at dp.

The freebie section was made only because the other categories were being spammed even if you can get more then 3 people to agree with you shawn will not agree to this.

Well if that small 'addon' helps the users then why not?! As i mentioned earlier...we are not in the position to make decision for others.

We don't know for sure whether Shawn will agree to this or not..Right? I bet he hasn't even seen this yet. So let us just be patient and let him decide what he wants to do abt it..... he certainly doesn't need our advice to make a decision. He will take the decision based on what is best for this community and also what gives him less pain (!lol).

So if that includes...scrapping that idea...then so be it...:) I am just trying to voice out my opinion on behalf of many of the DP members who feels that this feature will indeed be VERY helpful.

I could see where a search box for PMs would come in quite handy. If it ever did come up for a vote, I'd vote yes on it.

Same here. If you do any reasonable amount of business here, it would certainly be a nice feature.

It would of course be a good idea to have search option available. It is not necessary if you don't have any messages. :D

I delete all of my PMs as soon as they are replied to, but I still think it would be a good idea to have... ;)

I keep them in case someone decides to claim they never got my PM or they did or didn't send a particular PM.

I have my pm's sent to my email and then I filter them into a folder of dp pm's - that way I can search the mailbox for what I'm looking for. I use thunderbird for mail - I assume other email programs offer the same filtering and searching abilities.

Well since the lady said it, we should find a solution to it.

    Here is mine:

If you use firefox press ctrl + F. use a keyword in the title of the PM and search the all pages of PM box.If you don't remember any keyword search the username.

Some may find it useful, some may not.

I know its still a lot of work but it may ease out the task.

    EDIT:

    That can help too :)

    Thanks
