I can manage maindomain.com using cpanel to upload plugin themes etc etc.. But is the same with subdomain.maindomain.com? Can i upload a total new site(different themes different plugins)?
Yea. When you create a sub domain, it actually creates a new directory. For instance, subdomain.domain.com is also domain.com/subdomain but when search engines find subdomain.domain.com they treat it as separate site. When you upload your new site, simply choose which directory the sub domain refers to. You cab also set up an ftp account directly to that sub domain too.
You can manage a subdomain the same as the domain via FTP or File Manager, you can also install scripts from Fantastico to subdomains but if you are referring to a seperate cPanel account just for your subdomain I don't think this option is available (correct me if I'm wrong) - it may be possible to set this up within cPanel WHM (your host) but I've never tried it and even if it did work this way it would end up being a separate hosting account.
So long as you have subdomains allowed then it can be done simple from the same cpanel account. You can easily and safely have different sites. When setting up subdomains, I like to make sure that the folder is setup something like this: subdomains/subdomain.mydomain.com I DONOT do this: public_html/subdomain.mydomain.com I do this so that the public_html folder is set aside 100% for the main domain. bouser, you are right, it would end up being a separate hosting account, which can be done easily if you have a reseller account. (it would be messy to create and pay for a new account that was a subdomain, but, it would work.) I used to do free hosting where users created subdomains.mydomain.com and it worked fine.
Thanks for the reply! So with one domain name and one web hosting i can create a network site where domain.com is my main domain and all the subdomain are the sites of the network! Example: maindomain.com animals.maindomain.com food.maindomain.com space.maindomain.com Etc etc... Right?
